2023 Virtual Workshop Series Part of the Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference

Join us for a series of three  that will be held monthly as two half-day Zoom sessions.

These workshops, sponsored by the Alaska Center for Energy and Power, serve as a primer to the upcoming  to be held May 22-25, 2023, at the Denaā€™ina Center in Anchorage, Alaska.

Join us for the first workshop in the series, ā€œ.ā€

Many countries are striving to transition to energy sources that produce less atmospheric carbon. This transition has been economically and technologically challenging for many nations, but there are exceptions. Countries such as Iceland (geothermal), Denmark (wind) and France (nuclear) have been pathfinders ā€” navigating this transition early, and making remarkable transformations in their energy supplies in relatively short time periods.

This workshop will dive into the specific and varied experiences of these three countries. What were the drivers that set these nations on alternative energy paths? And what role did national policy, innovation and technology development play in helping navigate successful transitions?

WORKSHOP 1: ā€œLow-Carbon Energy Transitions: Lessons Learned from Global Pathfindersā€

Dates: Tuesday, Feb. 14, and Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023

Location: Virtual via Zoom

Cost: Free, but you .

Mark your calendars for the upcoming workshops:

  • ā€œCarbon Capture and Sequestration: The Myth and the Realityā€ ā€” March 7-8, 2023,
  • ā€œEnergy Storage: Beyond Lithium-Ion Batteriesā€ ā€” April 11-12, 2023,
