ACEP Travels to the Southeast Conference’s Mid-Session Summit

Last week, ACEP research professional Nathan Green traveled to Juneau for the Southeast Conference’s Mid-Session Summit and Transportation Symposium. At the Feb. 9 Energy Panel, Green updated attendees on ACEP’s recent activities in Southeast Alaska and statewide.

The Alaska Energy Authority’s Curtis Thayer provided updates on AEA's activities. The Alaska Power Association’s Michael Rovito discussed cybersecurity for Alaska's utilities and energy-related legislative activities. Other updates came from Jason Custor of Alaska Power & Telephone, Melissa Kookesh of Kootznoowoo Inc., Jodi Mitchell of Inside Passage Electric Cooperative, Trey Acteson of Southeast Alaska Power Agency, Clay Good of Renewable Energy Alaska Project and Alec Mesdeg of Alaska Heat Smart.

“Community leaders and project champions were able to hear directly from state and federal legislators and agencies on the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act and other topics related to energy, broadband, transportation, water and sanitation programs,” Green said. “Alaskans will have to advocate and coordinate with one another to ensure important projects are awarded necessary grant money made available in these laws.”
