Conference Explores Nexus of Energy and Society

The is the global forum for exploring the connections between energy and society.

ACEP director, Gwen Holdmann and research assistant professor, Dominique Pride attended the conference held at last month which focused on the intersection of changes in the energy sector and society.

Holdmann presented a paper titled, ā€œFinding the Critical Pathways to Renewable Energy Development in Remote Communities: A Qualitative Comparative Analysis using Rural Alaska as a Case Study.ā€

Keynote speaker, , professor of energy policy at the , spoke about improving the quality of studies in the field of energy research in the social sciences offering practical advice on how to improve research methods and design.

ā€œEnergy social science is a huge field,ā€ said Pride of her impression of the meeting. ā€œThe Alaska Center for Energy and Power is well positioned to add to the field with to our energy research that focuses on remote, cold-climate applications.ā€
